JUNIOR UCAR & 
YOUNG GUNS 2008 
Junior UCAR division is an entry level class for drivers with no previous racing experience for the ages of 12 to 17. It 
allows the participants to learn about the construction and maintenance of a race car, track procedures, racing etiquette, 
gain seat time, and to have fun participating on a dirt track. The cost of racing will be at a minimum with emphasis on 
safety, fun, and a very competitive class that will result in learning for the driver. (No upper age limit on women), if 17 
on January 1, you are eligible for the rest of the year. 
UCAR division minimum driver’s age of 12. 

1. Three or four cylinder, front wheel drive only. No sports type or performance cars.
 
2. Complete stock body with stock frame & suspension. See Tech for panel repairs. 

3. No bracing anywhere except inside the driver’s compartment.
 
4. Battery must be securely mounted and remain under the hood. 

5. No quad 4s/4 valve heads. Stock carburetor/fuel injection system for that make and model. No turbos, etc. 
6. Stock unaltered rear end for that make and model. 
7. Same size tires & passenger wheels that are stock for that make/model. No low profile or performance tires. 
Right side use oversize lug nuts. Camber & caster adjustment plates & mechanism stock. No modifications. 

8. No removing of sheet metal, hinges or interior metal. 
9. All exterior trim & all glass must be removed. All interior trim, seats, headliner, etc. removed.
 
10. Doors must be welded shut. No weight may be added. 

11. Two hood pins on front part of hood & two on trunk lid. 

12. Windshield or wire mesh with at least three safety bars. No radios or mirrors.
 
13. Window net with heavy duty rod & latch release. 

14. Four or six point roll cage with (1 ¾” X .090”) steel tubing. Minimum of four bars in driver door & three in left 
door. Two straight bars may run to rear with no additional bracing. No bars through firewall. Interior may be 
hulled for roll bars. All bars padded in driver’s area. 

15. Aluminum racing seat, racing safety belts, fire extinguisher, approved helmet, gloves, shoes, and a fire retardant 
driving suit required. Head and neck restraint system recommended. 

16. Fuel tank separated from driver’s are by metal firewall. May use fuel cell.
 
17. May remove: air conditioner & A/C pump, inertia switch (fuel shut off – Ford) and dashboard. Must remove all 
seats, upholstery & all insulation under hood. 

18. Electric cooling fan may be wired to run constantly. 

19. May use quick release steering wheel. 

20. UCAR competing models: American & foreign made but no high performance. Antioch Speedway Young Guns 
may run in Junior UCAR division. 

21. Cars approved for Junior UCAR division: Ford Escort, EXP (1.9), Ford Probe (2.2 SOHC, 3 valve), Festiva, Geo 
Storm, Metro; Chevy Cavalier, Beretta (2.0/2.2), Sprite, Pontiac Sunbird, GrandAm, Dodge Omni, Yugo; Honda 
CRX, No Dodge NEONs. Other models must be APPROVED by Tech before work is started. 

22. Minimum weight 2100 lbs. with driver after race, with no lightening done to race car to reduce weight. 
No Radios. No Mirrors.
